Stop Chasing Deadlines. Start Building Momentum: Introducing Rhythms for iOS

Have you ever set a repeating task like "Deep clean the kitchen every 3 days," only to fall behind because of a hectic work week?

You finally get to it on day five, check it off, and feel a brief moment of relief. But the very next morning, your traditional to-do app strikes back: "Deep clean the kitchen (Due Today)."

Rigid calendar schedules do not account for real life. When repeating tasks pile up artificially, task management turns into guilt management.

Rhythms was built to fix this broken loop.

The Power of Rolling Intervals: Count From When You Finish

Most productivity tools force your habits onto rigid calendar tracks. Rhythms introduces a Dual Recurrence Engine centered around Completion-Triggered Rolling Intervals.

  • The Old Way (Rigid Schedule): Water plants every 3 days   Done on Day 5   Next reminder triggers on Day 6 (Overwhelming).

  • The Rhythms Way (Rolling Interval): Water plants every 3 days   Done on Day 5  Rhythms automatically schedules the next due date for Day 8 (Completion + 3 days).

Your routines adapt to your actual pace. No backlogged tasks, no false guilt—just a steady, sustainable flow.

Continuous Time Awareness: Know Exactly How Long You've Slipped

Missing a deadline happens. Instead of slapping on an alarming red badge and leaving you in the dark, Rhythms tracks elapsed overdue time dynamically.

  • Live Overdue Counters: See at a glance if a task is overdue by +4h, +2d, or +1w.

  • Adaptive Color Shifts: Visual cues shift progressively from vibrant teal and calm orange to muted warm tones, giving you clear urgency without aggressive visual clutter.

Native iOS Elegance & Micro-Interactions

Rhythms is designed to feel right at home on your iPhone:

  • Sliver Card Interface: Clean typography, fluid native scrolling, and dynamic card layouts.

  • Haptic Completion: Tactile haptic feedback and smooth micro-animations validate every completed task.

  • Structured Categories: Organize tasks across Work, Health, Home, and Personal domains with custom color accents and iconography.

Reclaim Your Routine

Habits should work for you, not against you. Whether you are tracking daily routines, household upkeep, or flexible wellness habits, Rhythms gives you the structure you need with the flexibility life demands.

Download Rhythms on the App Store today and build habits at your own pace.

Rhythms

Rhythms

從我們的主視覺 Logo(概念 A - 開放式循環)就可以看出端倪:

Privacy Policy — Whimsy Weather

Privacy Policy — Whimsy Weather

Privacy Policy — Whimsy Weather

Last updated: 22 August 2026

Whimsy Weather is developed and published by Candan Weng, an independent developer. Contact: candanweng@gmail.com. In this policy, “we” means that developer, and “the app” means the Whimsy Weather iOS app.

The short version

There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDK in the app that reports anything to anybody. We do not build a profile of you and we have nothing to sell.

A weather app cannot be entirely silent, though, and it would be dishonest to imply otherwise: to tell you what the weather is where you are, the app has to say where that is. This policy is mostly about that one coordinate — who sees it, what for, and what does not go with it.

What is stored, and where

Everything the app remembers is kept in its own container on your device:

  • your settings — units, language, the scene you picked, whether advisories are on, whether notifications are on;
  • your saved places, as coordinates and names;
  • a note of which Pro product you bought, so the app knows to stay unlocked;
  • a snapshot of the latest conditions, in a container shared with the home-screen widget, so the widget and the Live Activity can draw without launching the app.

That is the whole list. There is no account, no sign-in, no history of where you have been, and no copy of any of it on a server of ours.

Location

The app asks for location while in use only. It never asks for background location and cannot read your position when it is not on screen. You may decline and use the app normally — pick a city instead, and it never asks again.

The coordinate is used for exactly one thing: fetching the weather, the astronomy and any warnings for that point. It is not stored anywhere beyond your device, not attached to an identifier, and not used for advertising or tracking of any kind. This matches the app’s privacy manifest, which declares precise location for App Functionality, not linked to your identity, and not used for tracking.

What leaves your device

WhenWhatTo whom
Every weather refreshThe coordinate you are looking atApple, through WeatherKit
You search for a place, or the app names the place you are inThe search text, or the coordinateApple, through MapKit and Core Location
“Official warnings” is on, in a covered regionThe coordinateThe US National Weather Service, or MeteoAlarm
You buy Pro or leave a tip, or tap “Restore purchases”The purchase requestApple

Your name, your email address, your Apple Account, your device identifiers and your contacts are in none of those requests, because the app never asks for them in the first place.

Apple

The forecast comes from WeatherKit, and searching for a place or naming the place you are in goes through MapKit and Core Location. These are frameworks built into iOS: they are authenticated by the app’s own signature, so there is no API key, no account, and no server of ours in the path. What Apple does with a request is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

The official warning feeds

With Official warnings switched on, the app reads the public feed of the service that covers the place you are looking at, and sends the coordinate in order to ask:

  • the US National Weather Service (api.weather.gov), for the United States;
  • MeteoAlarm (feeds.meteoalarm.org), run by EUMETNET, for Europe.

Both are public feeds. Neither needs a key or an account, and neither receives anything from the app but the coordinate being asked about. Switch the setting off and neither is contacted at all — the app falls back to the advisories it derives from the forecast itself, which needs no extra request.

Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration is credited in the app’s About screen, but this version does not read its warnings: they were only ever going to arrive through the push server described below, which is not part of this release. In Taiwan the app therefore shows its own derived advisories, and says so.

Notifications, and the server we do not run

Advisory notifications are raised locally, on your device, by the app itself while it is running. Nothing is sent anywhere for them, no push service is involved, and if you decline notification permission everything else in the app works normally.

The app can also be built to subscribe to a server that watches the forecast and pushes a warning while the app is closed. This version is not. No server address is compiled into it, the switch for it is not in the app, and no subscription is ever created — which is why there is no push server in the table above. If a future version ships that feature, this policy will be updated before it does, and it will say exactly what the subscription contains.

Purchases

Pro, and the tips, are handled entirely by Apple’s App Store through StoreKit. We never see your payment details, your Apple Account or your name, and we receive no information from Apple that identifies you. The app keeps only a local note of which product you bought. Apple’s handling of the transaction is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Data we receive from Apple

If you choose to share crash and usage data with developers in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements, Apple may show us anonymised, aggregated crash reports and sales figures through App Store Connect. We cannot identify you from them, and we do not combine them with anything else. That is Apple’s reporting, not collection by the app.

Third parties

We share no data with any third party for any purpose of their own. There are no advertising networks, no analytics providers and no data brokers involved in this app, and nothing is ever sold. The only parties in the picture are the ones named above — Apple and the two official warning feeds — and each receives only what it needs to answer the question being asked.

Retention and deletion

There is nothing of yours for us to keep, because we run no server that this version of the app ever talks to.

Everything lives on your device for as long as the app is installed. Deleting the app removes your settings, your saved places and the widget snapshot with it.

Children

The app is not directed at children, and collects nothing from anyone including children. It has no user-generated content, no messaging, no social features and no links out to the open web other than the ones named in this policy and the data-source credits inside the app.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, the CCPA and comparable laws you have rights to access, correct, export and delete your personal data. Because we hold nothing about you — no account, no profile, no history — there is nothing for us to disclose, correct or export; your settings and places are already entirely in your hands, and deleting the app removes them. Questions about these rights go to candanweng@gmail.com, and we will answer within 30 days.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version is published here with a new date. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.

Terms of Use — Whimsy Weather

Terms of Use — Whimsy Weather

Terms of Use — Whimsy Weather

Last updated: 7 September 2026

This End User Licence Agreement (“Agreement”) is between you and Candan Weng, an independent developer (“we”, “us”), and governs your use of the Whimsy Weather iOS application (“the App”). By downloading or using the App you agree to it. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

This Agreement is concluded between you and us alone, and not with Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the App and its content.

1. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the App on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. The App is licensed to you, not sold.

You may not sell, rent, sub-licence or redistribute the App, nor reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction.

2. Whimsy Weather Pro and tips

The free version of the App keeps one saved place, plus your device’s own position, and shows automatically chosen scenes. Whimsy Weather Pro removes the limit on saved places and adds the home-screen widget and Live Activity, choosing the landscape by hand, and scrubbing the timeline into the forecast. Pro is available three ways, all unlocking identical features:

PurchaseLengthPrice
Whimsy Weather Pro (Monthly)1 month, auto-renewingUS$2 per month
Whimsy Weather Pro (Yearly)1 year, auto-renewingUS$18 per year
Whimsy Weather Pro (Lifetime)One-off, permanentUS$60

Neither subscription includes a free trial or introductory period: the first period is charged at confirmation of purchase. Prices are set per region by the App Store; the amount shown on the Apple confirmation screen is the amount charged.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the current period ends; your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before that point. You can manage or cancel a subscription in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not refund the period already paid for.

The one-off purchase never expires and never renews. Buying it while a subscription is active does not automatically cancel the subscription — cancel it yourself in the Subscriptions screen.

Tips are optional consumable purchases that unlock nothing. They are a voluntary thank-you and are not refundable by us.

All purchases are processed by Apple. We cannot issue refunds; requests go to Apple at https://reportaproblem.apple.com.

3. Weather information is not a safety-of-life service

Read this section even if you read nothing else.

The App presents weather information from three kinds of source, and they are not equivalent:

  • The forecast and current conditions come from Apple’s WeatherKit. They are a forecast: an estimate, which can be wrong, late, or unavailable.
  • Official warnings are reproduced from the issuing service — the US National Weather Service, or MeteoAlarm for Europe. We do not issue them, alter their meaning, or vouch for them. A feed can be delayed, incomplete or briefly unreachable, and a region may have no feed the App can read at all.
  • Derived advisories are the App’s own reading of the forecast, computed on your device. They are not official warnings, are not issued by any authority, and the App labels them as derived wherever it shows one.

The App is provided for general information and interest. It is not a warning system, and you must not rely on it where a missed, late or wrong warning could cause harm — including but not limited to aviation, marine navigation, offshore or mountain activity, construction, agriculture, driving decisions, evacuation, or any decision affecting health, safety or property. The tide, wave and sea-state figures the App derives from wind and the Moon are illustrative and are expressly not suitable for navigation.

For decisions that matter, use your national meteorological service and follow your civil authorities. Where this Agreement’s limits on liability are not permitted by the law that applies to you, they apply only to the extent that law allows.

4. Notifications

Advisory notifications are raised by the App on your device while it is running. They depend on iOS settings, notification permission, Focus modes, low-power states and network availability, and the App cannot raise one while it is not running — iOS does not keep it alive in the background, and this version subscribes to no push service. We do not guarantee that any given notification will be raised or delivered, and section 3 applies to notifications in full.

5. Your data

Your settings and saved places stay on your device. We operate no server that this version of the App contacts, hold no copy of your data, and cannot recover it for you if the device is lost or the App is deleted. See the Privacy Policy for what does leave your device, and to whom.

6. Acceptable use

Use the App lawfully. Do not attempt to circumvent purchase verification or the free-version limits, and do not redistribute, resell or systematically extract the weather data the App displays — that data belongs to the services named in section 3 and reaches you under their terms, not ours.

7. Maintenance and support

We are solely responsible for any maintenance and support for the App. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services. Support is provided on a best-effort basis at candanweng@gmail.com; see the support page.

8. Warranty

The App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law.

In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the App to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to any warranty are our sole responsibility.

Nothing in this Agreement excludes rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law in your country, which are not affected.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the App or from any reliance on the weather information it presents. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months before the claim.

10. Product claims

We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the App or your possession and use of it, including: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that the App fails to conform to an applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation, including in connection with the App’s use of HealthKit or HomeKit frameworks, if applicable.

11. Intellectual property

If a third party claims that the App or your possession and use of it infringes that party’s intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.

The App, its name, its artwork and its design remain our property. This Agreement transfers no ownership. Weather data displayed in the App remains the property of the services it comes from, which the App credits in Settings › About as those services require.

12. Legal compliance

You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

13. Third-party terms

You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the App — including, where relevant, the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, and the terms of the weather services credited in the App.

14. Third-party beneficiary

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this Agreement, and upon your acceptance of it, Apple has the right (and is deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce this Agreement against you as a third-party beneficiary of it.

15. Termination

This licence ends if you stop using and delete the App, or if you materially breach this Agreement. Sections 3, 4 and 8 to 11, and section 14, survive termination.

16. Changes

We may update this Agreement. The current version is always published here with its date, and material changes will be noted in the App’s release notes. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated terms.

17. Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of Taiwan (Republic of China), without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, save where mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.

Frequently asked

What is this app?

A weather app that draws the weather instead of tabulating it. The top half is a cartoon landscape with a real sky over it: the Sun and Moon are where they actually are for your latitude and the time of day, the Moon shows its real phase, and the rain, snow, cloud and wind in the picture are the ones in the forecast. The bottom half is the ordinary numbers — feels-like, humidity, wind, pressure, visibility, UV, sunrise and sunset, moonrise and moonset.

Where does the weather come from?

Apple’s WeatherKit, the same forecast behind Apple’s own Weather app. Official warnings come from the national service that covers you — the US National Weather Service, or MeteoAlarm for Europe. Searching for a place, and naming the place you are in, go through Apple’s MapKit and Core Location. The credits are listed in Settings › About, where they are a licence condition rather than a courtesy.

It says the weather service is not authorised

That is WeatherKit refusing the app rather than a network problem. It normally means the build is not signed with a WeatherKit-enabled profile. If you are seeing it in a copy from the App Store, please write to us — that is a bug at our end and not something you can fix.

Why does it want my location?

To show the weather where you are. It asks only for “while using the app”, never for background location, and you can say no: pick a city in Settings › Saved places instead and the app works normally. See the Privacy Policy for what the coordinate is used for.

What is the difference between an “advisory” and an “official warning”?

An official warning was issued by a national weather service, and the card says which one. An advisory is this app’s own reading of the forecast — heavy rain, strong wind, extreme heat and so on, worked out from the numbers — and the card says so in as many words. Advisories exist because most of the world has no public warning feed the app can read, and no forecast should go unremarked just because of that. Never treat one as an official warning; when the two disagree, your national service is right.

It says no official feed covers this place

Only some regions publish a warning feed the app can read: the United States through the National Weather Service, and Europe through MeteoAlarm. Everywhere else — Taiwan and Japan included — you get derived advisories only, and the settings screen tells you which case you are in. That is the app working as intended, not a failure.

Notifications never arrive

Three things to check, in this order:

  1. Settings › Advisories › Notify me is on inside the app. This is the switch that asks iOS for permission.
  2. iOS Settings › Notifications › Whimsy Weather allows them. If the app was denied once, only iOS Settings can undo it.
  3. Advisories can only be raised while the app is running — iOS does not keep it alive in the background. This version has no push server, so a storm that arrives overnight is something you will see the next time you open the app, not something that wakes the phone. That is a limitation of this release, not a setting you have missed.

Can it warn me while the app is closed?

Not in this version. Doing that needs a server watching the forecast on your behalf and pushing through Apple, and there isn’t one yet — so rather than ship a switch that could never work, we left it out. Nothing you have paid for includes it: Pro is the four features listed below, and server-sent warnings are not among them. It is the next thing on the list.

Can I look at a later hour?

Yes — drag the timeline under the scene, and the whole sky moves with it: the Sun and Moon slide along their arcs, the light changes, and the weather in the picture becomes the forecast weather for that hour. Tapping an hour in the hourly strip or a day in the five-day strip does the same thing. The timeline is part of Pro.

Can I choose the landscape?

Settings › Scene. Automatic picks one that suits where you are and is what almost everyone sees; choosing by hand — coast, city, mountains, desert, lake, tropics and the rest — is part of Pro, and it stays picked.

How many places can I keep?

The free version keeps one saved place, plus wherever your device says you are. Pro removes the limit. Press and hold a place to reorder the list.

Units and language

Settings › Units switches the temperature, wind, pressure and distance independently, or follows your region. Settings › Language offers English, 繁體中文, 简体中文 and 日本語, or follows the system.

I bought Pro but a new phone shows the free version

Settings › Whimsy Weather Pro › Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account that made the purchase. Your saved places are not part of a purchase and do not come back with it.

What does a tip do?

Nothing, deliberately. Tips are a thank-you and unlock no features — Pro already covers those. You get a badge in the About screen and our genuine thanks.

Whimsy Weather Pro

Pro unlocks four things: as many saved places as you like, the home-screen widget and Live Activity, choosing the landscape yourself, and scrubbing the timeline into the forecast. Automatic scenes, the whole current-conditions panel, the hourly and five-day forecasts, official warnings, derived advisories and their notifications are all free.

PurchaseLengthPrice
Whimsy Weather Pro (Monthly)1 month, auto-renewingUS$2 per month
Whimsy Weather Pro (Yearly)1 year, auto-renewingUS$18 per year
Whimsy Weather Pro (Lifetime)One-off, permanentUS$60

There is no free trial: the first period is charged when you confirm the purchase. Prices are shown in your own currency inside the app and may differ by region; the amount on the App Store confirmation screen is the one that is charged.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. The one-off purchase never expires and never renews.

Use of the app is governed by our Terms of Use (EULA).

How do I manage or cancel a subscription?

Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions on your device, where you can turn off auto-renew at any time; the app links straight there from its Pro screen. Subscriptions are managed by Apple, so we cannot cancel or refund one on your behalf. Refund requests go through https://reportaproblem.apple.com.

Reporting a bug

Please include:

  • what you expected to see, and what the app showed instead
  • the place, and the time of day on the timeline, if the picture is what is wrong
  • whether the advisory was an official warning or a derived one
  • your iOS version and device
  • the app version, from Settings › About

A screenshot is worth all of the above put together.

WordBook - Literary Puzzle

Untitled

Discover a Literary Escape: The Art of Puzzle Solving in 'Between the Lines'

Have you ever wished you could spend an afternoon in a quiet, antique library, surrounded by the scent of aged paper and the soft glow of a reading lamp? That specific, sophisticated mood—the feeling of being lost in a masterpiece—is exactly what a new mobile game aims to capture.

Introducing WordBook - Literary Puzzle (字裡行間) - Classic Book Word Hunt, a literary puzzle game recently launched on the App Store. It is not just a game; it is a serene getaway designed for book lovers, word enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a moment of elegant relaxation.

🖋️ When Literature Becomes the Playground

The moment I saw the game’s official logo (above), I knew this was something special. A vintage cream parchment background (the comforting hue of old paper, #F9F6ED) features an elegant navy-blue inkwell and a golden feather quill. The shape of the inkwell itself subtly forms a 'question mark (?)', and the very tip of the quill glows with a small, brilliant golden spark.

This single image perfectly encapsulates the soul of the game: It is an elegant mystery, an invitation to use the power of words to illuminate the unknown.

Between the Lines brings the world's most beloved classic, public-domain literature—books like Pride and Prejudice, Sherlock Holmes, and Alice in Wonderland—into a modern, fluid puzzle format. It is a respectful tribute to literary history and a playful new way to engage with the text.

🧩 How it Works: Step into the Novel

The game mechanics are intuitive and utterly satisfying. You are not just solving a puzzle; you are participating in the creation of the story:

  1. Read a Classic Passage: You are presented with a curated segment of classic prose, rendered in beautiful serif typography. The environment is clean, aesthetic, and perfectly mimics the experience of reading a premium physical book.

  2. Find the Blank: A few key words are removed, leaving a marked '?' slot—your puzzle to solve.

  3. Drag and Match: Shuffled word options appear below. Your goal is simple: pick up a word with your finger and drag it to fill the correct blank.

This is where the magic happens. When you drag the right word into the blank, the text flows perfectly, and that golden spark from the logo seems to ignite, validating your success. It’s an oddly calming and deeply rewarding visual loop. A mistake costs you a drop of precious ink.

🌟 Why 'Between the Lines' Belongs on Your Device

  • Aesthetic Immersion: Cream and Ink The game's UI is designed around the tactile texture of cream parchment and the flow of dark ink. It is visually soothing and sophisticated, creating a headspace of focused calmness. Every element, from the shadows on the 'page' to the animation of the text, is crafted for elegance.

  • Effortless Language Learning (or Review) Whether you are a native English speaker revisiting the cadence of classic authors, or a student looking to improve your vocabulary through beautiful, context-rich examples, Between the Lines offers a low-pressure, high-reward learning experience. You absorb the structure of complex sentences as you play.

  • The Perfect Mobile CompanionBetween the Lines is ideal for short bursts of play. Waiting in line? Commuting? It only takes two minutes to solve a chapter, and you leave feeling smarter and more relaxed. It is truly an "aesthetic micro-escape."

📖 Begin Your Literary Journey Today

If you love the quiet power of a great book, or if you simply appreciate a game made with an exceptional eye for design, Between the Lines is waiting for you. Pick up the golden quill, refill your ink, and discover what beautiful truths are hidden just a puzzle away.

WordBook(字裡行間)由一個人開發。

App

Contact

WordBook is made by one person. For any question, bug report or suggestion, write to candanweng@gmail.com — replies usually come within a day or two.

When reporting a problem, these details make it much faster: your device and OS version, which book and puzzle type it happened in, and a screenshot of what you saw.

Common questions

I changed phones or reinstalled. How do I get the full version back?

Settings → Full version → Restore purchase, or tap "Restore purchase" on the paywall. Sign in with the same Apple ID or Google account and it comes back at no cost — no account, no receipt needed.

Do my books and progress come back too?

No. The app has no server and no accounts; everything lives only on your own device. After switching phones or deleting the app, your shelf, progress, statistics, achievements and commonplace book start over. That is the cost of collecting nothing.

Does sponsoring the developer unlock anything?

No. The three items under Settings → About → Sponsor the developer are purely voluntary. They change nothing about how the app behaves and do not unlock the full version. To unlock features, buy the full version.

Is the full version a subscription?

No. It is a one-time purchase. Nothing renews and nothing is charged again.

An EPUB will not import.

The app reads standard EPUB 2 and EPUB 3 files. Files with DRM — books bought from other ebook stores, typically — cannot be opened, because the file itself is encrypted. PDF and mobi are not supported.

If a DRM-free EPUB still will not open, write to me; send the file and I can look at it directly.

The online library will not load.

The catalogue comes from Gutendex and the files from Project Gutenberg, both outside services that occasionally go down for maintenance. Everything except browsing that library works fully offline — including reading aloud, which uses a natural voice from the network when there is one and the device's own when there is not.

My daily streak reset.

The streak follows your device's time zone: miss a full day without finishing that day's passage and it goes back to zero. Changing the device clock by hand does not restore a streak that has already broken.

How do I clear everything?

Settings → About → Clear all data empties the shelf, progress, statistics and commonplace book. A full version you have bought is unaffected — just restore it. Deleting the app clears everything as well.

Privacy

The app collects no personal data. See the privacy policy for details.

Rhythms — Terms of Use

Terms of Use — Rhythms

Terms of Use — Rhythms

Last updated: 15 August 2026

This End User Licence Agreement (“Agreement”) is between you and Candan Weng, an independent developer (“we”, “us”), and governs your use of the Rhythms iOS application (“the App”).

2. Rhythms Pro and tips

The free version of the App limits how many tasks you may keep. Rhythms Pro removes that limit and adds backup and restore. Pro is available three ways, all unlocking identical features:

PurchaseLengthPrice
Rhythms ProOne-off, permanentUS$14.99
Rhythms Pro (Yearly)1 year, auto-renewingUS$9.99 per year
Rhythms Pro (Monthly)1 month, auto-renewingUS$0.99 per month

We cannot issue refunds; requests go to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

3. Your data and backups

Your tasks stay on your device. We operate no server, hold no copy of your data, and cannot recover it for you. See the Privacy Policy for detail.

You are responsible for your own backups. Deleting the App, losing the device, or a device or operating-system fault will destroy your data permanently. The App provides Settings › Backup › Export a backup for this purpose. We are not liable for lost tasks, history or backup files.

Reminders are scheduled locally by iOS. Their delivery depends on iOS settings, notification permission, Focus modes, low-power states and system limits on how many notifications an app may schedule. We do not guarantee that any given reminder will be delivered, and the App must not be relied on where a missed reminder would be harmful — including medication, medical, legal or financial deadlines.

4. Acceptable use

Use the App lawfully. Do not use it to store unlawful content, and do not attempt to circumvent purchase verification or the free-version limits.

5. Maintenance and support

We are solely responsible for any maintenance and support for the App. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services. Support is provided on a best-effort basis at candanweng@gmail.com; see the support page.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the App. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months before the claim.

9. Intellectual property

If a third party claims that the App or your possession and use of it infringes that party’s intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.

The App, its name and its design remain our property. This Agreement transfers no ownership.

10. Legal compliance

You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

11. Third-party terms

You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the App — including, where relevant, the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

12. Third-party beneficiary

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this Agreement, and upon your acceptance of it, Apple has the right (and is deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce this Agreement against you as a third-party beneficiary of it.

13. Termination

This licence ends if you stop using and delete the App, or if you materially breach this Agreement. Sections 6 to 9 and 12 survive termination.

14. Changes

We may update this Agreement. The current version is always published here with its date, and material changes will be noted in the App’s release notes. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of Taiwan (Republic of China), without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, save where mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.

Frequently asked

What makes Rhythms different from other habit apps?

Most apps schedule by the calendar: “every Sunday”. Rhythms can also schedule by how long it has actually been: “seven days after I last did it”. If you meant to change the sheets on Sunday and got to it on Wednesday, a calendar app pushes you back to Sunday — four days later. Rhythms starts the seven days from Wednesday, which is what you actually wanted.

A task shows a strikethrough. Why?

It was completed today and the new cycle it earned has not come due yet. Once it comes due again — or the day rolls over — it returns to the list normally.

I completed something by mistake

Tap Undo on the message that appears at the bottom. That puts the task’s schedule and its history back exactly as they were. Only the most recent completion can be undone.

Reminders never arrive

Notifications are probably switched off for Rhythms. Open Settings › Notifications › Rhythms and allow them, or use the “Reminders are off” banner at the top of the task list, which links straight there.

Where are my tasks stored? Is there sync?

On your device only. There is no account and no cloud sync in this version. Use Settings › Backup › Export a backup to keep a copy — that file is the only thing that survives losing or replacing the phone.

I bought Pro but a new phone shows the free version

Settings › Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account that made the purchase. Restoring brings back Pro; it does not bring back your tasks — for those you need a backup file.

Why is my task no longer in Today?

Tasks overdue by more than three of their own cycles (at least a day) move out of Today so they stop crowding it, and a line at the top says how many. Tap it to see them under Overdue. Nothing has been deleted.

What does a tip do?

Nothing, deliberately. Tips are a thank you and unlock no features — Pro already covers those. Tipping is entirely optional.

Rhythms Pro

Pro removes the limit on how many tasks you can keep and adds backup and restore. There are three ways to get it, and they unlock exactly the same features:

PurchaseLengthPrice
Rhythms ProOne-off, permanentUS$14.99
Rhythms Pro (Yearly)1 year, auto-renewingUS$9.99 per year
Rhythms Pro (Monthly)1 month, auto-renewingUS$0.99 per month

Prices are shown in your own currency inside the app and may differ by region; the amount on the App Store confirmation screen is the one that is charged.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. The one-off purchase never expires and never renews.

Use of Rhythms is governed by our Terms of Use (EULA).

How do I manage or cancel a subscription?

Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions on your device, where you can turn off auto-renew at any time. Subscriptions are managed by Apple; we cannot cancel or refund them on your behalf. Refund requests go through reportaproblem.apple.com.

Reporting a bug

Please include:

  • what you expected to happen, and what happened instead
  • the task’s recurrence setting, if it involves a schedule
  • your iOS version and device
  • the app version, from Settings › About

Privacy Policy — Rhythms

Privacy Policy — Rhythms

Privacy Policy — Rhythms

Last updated: 26 August 2026

Rhythms is developed and published by Candan Weng, an independent developer. Contact: candanweng@gmail.com. In this policy, “we” means that developer, and “the app” means the Rhythms iOS app.

The short version

Rhythms collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no third-party SDK that reports anything, and no server belonging to us. Your tasks stay on your device unless you deliberately export them, or turn on iCloud sync — which puts them in your iCloud account, not ours.

What is stored, and where

Everything you enter — task names, notes, categories, schedules and your completion history — is stored in a database inside the app’s own container on your device. We cannot see it, and neither can anyone else without access to your unlocked device.

iCloud sync

iCloud sync is off by default. If you turn it on, the app keeps a copy of your library in your own iCloud Drive, in a file named rhythms-library.json inside a folder called Rhythms. Your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account read and write that same file, which is how they stay in step.

That file is in your iCloud account, under Apple’s terms and your own iCloud settings. We have no access to it — there is no server of ours involved, no account with us, and no key we hold. You can open, copy or delete the file yourself from the Files app or from iCloud Drive on a Mac.

Turning sync off leaves the file where it is, because your other devices may still be using it. Deleting the file, or turning off iCloud Drive, is done in Apple’s own settings.

If you never turn sync on, nothing about your library leaves the device. If you delete the app and had sync off, that data is deleted with it.

What leaves your device

WhenWhatTo whom
You buy Pro, subscribe, or leave a tip The purchase request Apple
You tap “Restore purchases” A request for your past purchases Apple
You export a backup The file, to wherever you send it Chosen by you
You turn on iCloud sync Your tasks, categories and completion history Your own iCloud account

Purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple’s App Store using Apple’s own StoreKit. We never see your payment details, your Apple Account, or your name, and we receive no personal information from Apple that identifies you. The app stores only a local note of which product you bought, so it knows to stay unlocked. Apple’s handling of that transaction is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Rhythms makes no network requests of its own. Purchases go through Apple’s StoreKit, and iCloud sync is carried by the operating system’s own iCloud Drive machinery — the app hands a file to iOS or macOS and the system does the rest.

Data we receive from Apple

If you choose to share crash and usage data with developers in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements, Apple may show us anonymised, aggregated crash reports and sales figures through App Store Connect. We cannot identify you from them and we do not combine them with anything else. This is Apple’s reporting, not collection by the app.

Third parties

We share no data with any third party, because we hold none. There are no advertising networks, analytics providers, or data brokers involved in Rhythms, and no data is ever sold. Apple is the only party in the picture, and only for payments, as described above.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled locally by iOS on your device. They are not push notifications; nothing is sent through any server. If you decline notification permission, the rest of the app works normally.

Data you export

An exported backup is a plain JSON file containing your tasks, categories and completion history. Once you have shared or saved it, where it goes and who can read it is determined by where you put it. We have no access to it.

Retention and deletion

We retain nothing and cannot delete anything on your behalf, because we never hold any of it. On the device, the data lives for as long as the app is installed; deleting the app removes the database and every task, category and completion record with it, permanently.

If you have used iCloud sync, a copy also lives in your own iCloud account, and deleting the app does not remove it — that copy is yours to delete, from the Files app or from iCloud Drive on a Mac. Export a backup first if you want to keep a copy of either.

Children

Rhythms is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children. It contains no user-generated content, no messaging, and no links out to the open web other than the ones named in this policy.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, the CCPA and comparable laws you have rights to access, correct, export and delete your personal data. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct or delete — the data is already entirely in your hands. To export it, use Settings › Backup › Export a backup. To remove everything, delete the app — and, if you turned on iCloud sync, delete the Rhythms folder from iCloud Drive. If you have a question about these rights, write to candanweng@gmail.com and we will answer within 30 days.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published here with a new date. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.

2026-09-19 · Last updated: 19 September 2026

App

「完整版」為一次性的 App 內購買,由 Apple(App Store)或 Google(Play 商店)處理,不是訂閱。

Game Center

English

We collect nothing

WordBook has no accounts of ours, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking SDKs. There is no server of ours that receives your data.

Two optional features use an account you already have — Apple’s Game Center and iCloud. Both keep things under your own Apple account; neither goes anywhere near us. See the Game Center and iCloud sync sections below.

Your books stay on your device

The EPUB files you import and the text of your books are written only to the app's own sandbox on your device. None of it leaves the device, and none of it is synced anywhere. Reading aloud is the one exception: the passage being read is sent to Microsoft's speech service to be turned into a voice — see point 3 under Network access below.

Reading progress, statistics, achievements and saved lines are written to the device too, and a copy is kept under your own iCloud account so that reading picks up where you left off on another device — see iCloud sync below. Either way, none of it is backed up to us, and we cannot read it.

Deleting the app deletes everything on this device. You can also clear it yourself at any time under Settings → About → Clear all data, which clears the copy in iCloud along with it.

Network access

The app reaches the network in three situations, all of which you start:

  1. When you browse or download public-domain books in the Library, it requests the catalogue from Gutendex (gutendex.com) and the EPUB files themselves from Project Gutenberg (www.gutenberg.org).
  2. When you buy or restore the full version, or sponsor the developer, it talks to Apple's or Google's payment service.
  3. When you have a passage read aloud and this device is online, it sends the passage being read to Microsoft's speech service (speech.platform.bing.com — the same one Edge's own “read aloud” uses) and plays back the voice it returns. The screen where you choose a voice asks the same service for its list of voices; that request carries no book text. Only the passage itself is sent: not the book's title, not what is on your shelf, not how far you have read, and nothing that identifies you. With no network, or in a language Microsoft has no voice for, your device's own synthesiser reads it and nothing is sent.

Those requests carry only the ordinary information needed to fetch a file or complete a transaction — nothing that identifies you, and nothing about what is on your shelf or how far you have read. Everything else works fully offline, including the full version once bought: what you own is recorded on your own device, so opening the app never waits on a network.

Purchases

The full version is a one-time in-app purchase — not a subscription — handled by Apple on the App Store and by Google on Play. Payment details are collected and held by them; we never see your payment method or billing information, and there is no server of ours that records what you bought. All we receive from the platform is a single yes/no — whether this device has purchased — which is then stored on your device.

Sponsoring the developer

The three items under Settings → About → Sponsor the developer are voluntary, repeatable in-app purchases, handled by Apple and Google in the same way. Sponsoring unlocks nothing and changes nothing about how the app behaves. The only thing recorded on your device is how many times you have sponsored, for one purpose: so the app can say thank you rather than ask you again. That number never leaves your device and is not uploaded anywhere.

Game Center

If your device is signed in to Game Center, the app posts two kinds of number to your Apple account:

  1. Achievements — the fourteen you have earned, the same ones shown on the statistics screen.
  2. Leaderboards — three figures: passages restored in total, your longest run of daily challenges, and your longest run of correct answers.

That is all that is sent. Which books are on your shelf, which one you are reading, how far you have read and what you have imported are never sent.

Those records are held by Apple, governed by Apple’s privacy policy, and belong to your Apple account rather than to this app. Your Game Center display name is visible to other players on the leaderboards — that is what a leaderboard is for — but that name is one you choose in your system settings, and we cannot read your real name or your Apple ID.

This is optional. Turn Game Center off under Settings → Game Center on your device and the app posts nothing at all; everything else works exactly as before. The app only ever sends to Game Center; it never reads anything back.

Clear all data clears what is on this device. Achievements and leaderboard scores already recorded in Game Center stay under your Apple account — they are yours, not ours, and we have no way to delete them. To clear those, use Settings → Game Center on your device.

iCloud sync

If your device is signed in to iCloud, the app keeps the following under your own iCloud account, so that reading picks up where you left off when you change devices or read on two of them:

  1. Reading progress — which passages each way of reading has restored in each book, and the best score for each.
  2. Statistics and achievements — the running totals, the daily-challenge streak, and the achievements earned.
  3. Saved lines — the passages you kept, and which book each came from.
  4. The interrupted board — the puzzle you were halfway through, so that continue has something to open.

What is not synced: the EPUB files you imported and the text of your books. Those stay on the device they were added to.

This uses Apple's iCloud key-value store (NSUbiquitousKeyValueStore). It lives in your iCloud account, held by Apple and governed by Apple's privacy policy. There is no server of ours in between, and we cannot read a word of it.

This is optional. Turn WordBook off under Settings → [your name] → iCloud, or simply do not sign in to iCloud, and the app writes only to this device; everything else works exactly as before.

Clear all data clears both what is on this device and your copy in iCloud. One thing worth knowing: if another of your devices still holds the same reading, it will put its own copy back into iCloud the next time it syncs — that device was not cleared, and this one does not get to decide for it.

Children

The app collects no data, and therefore collects no data from children. There is no advertising and no communication between users. A Game Center leaderboard shows display names and numbers and nothing else — there is no chat and no messaging. If you would rather a child did not appear on one, turn Game Center off under Screen Time or Settings → Game Center.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page is updated and the change ships with an app update.
